VAE Redispersible Powder

Introduction
VAE Redispersible Powder is used as a water-redispersible vinyl acetate that easily dissolves in in water to form a stable emulsion. This powder is especially used with inorganic binders for example cement, hydrated lime and gypsum and can also be used as alone for manufacturing construction binders.

Applications
VAE Redispersible Powder is widely used because it improves adhesion, abrasion resistance and flexural strength. It enhances the expediency of modified compounds like repair mortars, self-leveling compounds, gypsum based compounds etc. Compatible with mortar additives VAE Redispersible Powder has special processing characteristics. It has fine, mineral filler that works as an anti-block agents and it is free of solvents, plasticizes and other film-forming aids. Some of the recommended usage of VAE Redispersible Powder are as follows:

Tile Adhesives
VAE Redispersible Powder can be used as a tile adhesives for thin-bed tile adhesives with good frost resistance. We recommend using 1~5% of this powder and about 0.2 -0.6 % of cellulose ether or other appropriate cellulose derivatives as water retention agent and if required organic fibers to reduce slump.

Repair Mortars
VAE Redispersible Powder suitable for bringing changes to repair mortars, especially those that are used for concrete renovation mortars. This re-dispersible powder also improves adhesion propertiesresistance to abrasion and flexibility. An addition of 1 – 6 % redispersible powder is recommended for efficient performance of VAE Redispersible Powder

Self-leveling compounds
VAE Redispersible Powder is apt for altering self-leveling flooring compounds. It is adaptable with all super plasticizes, like condensation products of melamine sulphonic acid, llignin sulphonates or even naphthaline sulphonic. Adding this powder enhances adhesion, resistance to abrasion, flexibility and other properties like workability and flow properties of the compounds that it is added to.

VAE Redispersible Powder is most suited to be used in self-leveling flooring compounds that have casein. These compounds are highly tolerant towards excess water and do not slump easily. They have a very smooth, crater-free surface.

VAE Redispersible Powder best suited to be used with standard inorganic binders. Portland cement, high-alumina cement, anhydrite, gypsum, lime are some binders with which these Redispersible Powder can be used.

Mineral plasters
VAE Redispersible Powder is also added to cement and lime-cement decorative to enhance their adhesion and flexibility. 1 to 6% Redispersible Powder should be added in accordance with the total weight of the mixture. 0.1 – 0.5 % cellulose ether or starch ether or a combination of both should also be incorporated.

Gypsum Based Compounds
Addition of this powder to gypsum based compounds enhance their flexural strength, impact resistance and adhesion properties. For improvement in water retention, cellulose ether can be added. This powder is also suitable to be used in formulation of self-leveling compounds that are based on gypsum and anhydrite.

Processing & Storage of VAE Redispersible Powder
Processing:
VAE Redispersible Powder is mixed with dry, finely divided additives, for production of powdered products such as dry mortars, tile adhesives, troweling compound. It is recommended that pressure in the mixer or the transferring line should be avoided, as it will raise the temperature and lead to agglomeration of the thermoplastic resin particles. After adding sufficient water, mortars or troweling compounds can be easily mixed by hand or machine. As using hands generates low shear forces, it is advised to let the mixture mature by leaving it to stand for 5 minutes and then start stirring again.

Storage:
It is recommended to store VAE Redispersible Powder to be stored in cool and dry environment. The powder should be used within 6 months from the date of manufacture. High temperature and humidity will increase the risk of caking, hence it should be used as soon as possible, especially in summers. Once opened, the packet should be resealed to prevent ingress of moisture. It is also recommended that VAE Redispersible Powder availed in paper bags, should not be stacked, as heavy pressure may result in caking.
