Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate-Vinyl Chloride Emlision is a terpolymer of Ethylene, Vinyl Acetate and Vinyl Chloride.

Introduction
EVA-VC series products have excellent water and fire retardant properties as well as cross- linkable properties to provide good cohesion and adhesion with wide range of materials, especially adhesion to fiber glass, metal, PVC film, and porous substrates like wood or paper.

EVA-VC are watery emlision in comparison with EVA protected by PVOH. Beside 901, the viscosity of other emlisions is not higher than 200 cP, in the worldwide trend EVA manufacturers and customers prefer high solid emlision due to the logistic cost and faster setting speed. But EVCL is only available in 50% solid contents due stability of emlisions. Some of the applications like paper impregnation need lower solid content in their process, end user can adjust the solid content by simply adding water in it. And sometime with extra stabilizer into the emlisions.

pH of EVA-VC must be careflily adjust higher than 4, it is because acidic environment will accelerate the cross-linking reaction in the emlision itself. Especially 903, with self cross-linking properties, they are very sensitive to low acidity, it will gel up during the storage period if the pH keep lower than 4. 905, as HEC and surfactant as a stabilizer has wide particle size distribution. Wide range of particle size of 905 help in good performance in some applications such as wood working.EVA-VC have higher density than EVA(1.06 g/cm3) and are easy to produce foam due low surface tension.

Minimum Film Forming Temperature (MEFT or MFT) is a minimum working temperature for polymers emlision. During the evaporation of continuous phase(water) The polymer particle become closer and closer, minimum temperature need to provide to polymer particle “melt” the surface boundry to let polymer particle merge together become a continious film.

Measurement of minimum film forming temperature applies an emlision by the thickness of 3mil on the SUS board, which gave the -10 to 80 °C heat slope and observes visually the temperature from which a leather film starts neither a crack nor whitening. Solvent like Texanol will help to bring down the MEFT of 903 from 25C to 17°C, so make 903 easy to form a continuous film at room temperature.

Heat sealing temperature
EVA-VC emlisions are thermoplastic polymers, so they can be applied with heat sealing properties to both non- porous substrate. For example the compounded 903 in PVC leather application. The peeling strength of glue apply on substrate is affected by dosage amount and heat seal temperature. As per study it shows that, the bond strength increases as the heat seal temperature increases. 
Since, EVA-VC emlision contains the hydrophobic polymer ingredient, such as ethylene and vinyl chloride, advanced water resistance is obtained. When higher water resistance is required, cross-linking agents, such as melamine type, as isocyanate type, an amide type, and an oxazoline type, can be added and used.

Applications 
Applications as adhesive use EVA-VC emlisions are an extremely versatile base emlisions for adhesives and its major fields of application are packaging adhesive and plastic film lamination. It is also used as base emlision for adhesive in manufacture of shoes, luggage, rug backing compounds, and in construction field for ceramic floor tile adhesive, polyvinyl chloride floor tile adhesive. EVA-VC emlisions are a base emlision. It is necessary to modify the emlision for adhesive use. Modification is very important technique to produce good adhesive

PVC Leather- 903, has excellent bonding strength for adhesion between PVC film and cloth. Material of PVC film adhered with cloth is called PVC leather and widely used for the materials for clothes, furniture, shoes and hand bags etc. suitable materials to be bonded are, soft PVC sheet to cotton, rayon, nylon and polyester cloth.

Cleaning : Machines, tools and equipments should be immediately cleaned up with warm water

Packaging : 220 kg Iron Drum, 55 kg plastic drum, 5 kg plastic container.

Safety & Storage : In general, EVA - VC Adhesive is considered safe for their intended use. However, since these products contain minor amounts of residual vinyl acetate monomer, it is recommended that adequate ventilation is provided in room where EVC-VC is handled. Usual protective measures when handling emlision such as wearing gloves and goggles sholid be observed. Splashes on the skin or in eyes sholid be immediately removed by irrigation with clean water. After delivery ex production site the emlision must be stored in its properly closed original containers in sheltered areas at cool temperatures (5-30 oC). For maximum shelf life, please refer to the label. Protection against frost is mandatory.
